Festive Trifle

Introducing a delectable delight that embodies the festive spirit in every layer – our Christmas Trifle! This show-stopping dessert is a merry medley of flavors and textures, artfully assembled to bring joy to your holiday table. With velvety layers of rich custard, indulgent whipped cream, and bursts of seasonal freshness from berries, each spoonful is a celebration of Christmas in your mouth.

Prep Time: 60 minutes


Refrigerator Time: Overnight

Ingredients:

  • 2 Strawberry Swiss Rolls
  • 1 Packet of Jelly
  • 500g Mixed Fruit (can be frozen)
  • 400g Fresh Strawberries
  • 500ml Custard (homemade or carton)
  • 600ml Double Cream

Instructions:

  1. Firstly, make your jelly to the package instructions and refrigerate.
  2. Cut the Swiss rolls into 2cm slices and place along the bottom and sides of a trifle dish.
  3. Halve and hull the strawberries and place along the sides of the dish on top of the Swiss roll layer.
  4. Add the mixed fruit on top of the Swiss roll layer. Reserve about 100g for the top.
  5. Remove the jelly from the refrigerator and spoon it on top of the fruit.
  6. Pour the custard on top of the jelly, making sure it fills any gaps.
  7. Whip the double cream using a whisk or electric beater until it resembles firm peaks. Gently spoon on top of the custard making sure not to disturb the layers beneath.
  8. Add the last of the mixed fruit to the very top of the trifle, or decorate as you please.
