Asparagus Season is upon us
Hello my smelly friend, apologies, not you, the asparagus! It's nearly that time of year where you can visit a farm and get yourself a wedge of good asparagus. We are not talking the weedy stuff that you can get from the supermarket. Both are good but that thick stalked, fresh asparagus is welcome in most homes at any time.
Wrap it in prosciutto, serve it with a hollandaise, cover it with freshly shaved parmesan and some fresh lemon or add it to your favourite risotto.... need we go on? Can you actually remember when you first had asparagus? We added the question here at the offices of HAUS... still thinking... We can remember the after effect (moving on).
Set yourself up with a fabulous griddle pan and you will have all the advantages of a great pan that will not only fulfil your desirable dishes that you can create with asparagus, but one that you can use inside, on the BBQ or in the oven. Think steak, veggies (Carrot Bacon anyone?) and much more. High ridges mean great scorch marks, whilst allowing the right amount of fat to dissipate away from the food without leaving it flavourless.
Check out the SCANPAN griddles (make sure you go Induction (if that is what you really need) and see what temptations await you. Our firm favourite is still the SCANPAN Square Grill Griddle (Not Induction - pictured below). If you have induction great, we are currently cooking on candles until the Gas bill prices comes down and then we are back cooking on Gas. Why? Because we all use it and personally like it.
